The ultimate guide to dental implants

Dental implants are frames or structures that are surgically mounted into your jawbones underneath the gums. These frames will then serve as a foundation to allow the dentist to install replacement teeth. People can lose teeth for many reasons; mainly due to lack of maintenance, gum decease or accidents. Since adults can’t grow teeth, the best option available is dental implants. Dental implants in Dubai are usually more expensive than alternative methods of teeth replacement. Crowns serve as an alternative method and you can get them in stainless steel, gold or silver but dental implants look much better than crowns and they stain, much less frequently. Crowns are less preferred by professionals living in Dubai as well – but of course, you can always put crowns on implants if you want to.

The metal frames soldered into the jawbone would offer a secure support for synthetic teeth and feel much more natural and painless than conventional bridges or dentures which may be uncomfortable for some people.

There are two types of dental implants considered safe by the American Dental Association;

1. Subperiosteal Implants
Metal frames that are inserted into the jawbone below the gum tissue. The frame becomes more adjacent and stable as the gum heals. Posts are then attached to the metal frames and artificial teeth are mounted onto the frames. This procedure is slightly less painful.

2. Endosteal Implants
Metal frames are surgically directly implanted into the jawbone. A second surgery is needed after the gum has healed to implant posts to the frames. Artificial teeth are then mounted to the posts.

What are some of the benefits of getting dental implants?

A dental implant is a great option for people who are missing teeth. they offers improved appearance as they look like natural teeth, they’re comfortable, they won’t slip or become loose resulting in embarrassing situations, and they are durable allowing you to keep them for many years as permanent dentures.

So how do I get dental implants in Dubai?

You can make an appointment with your nearest dentist and speak to them about it. You can get dental implants as long as you have healthy gums and sufficient jawbone to support the frame implants. You also need to make sure that you maintain very high level of personal oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly if you want your implants to be long lasting.

How long will it take to heal?

Gum tissue usually takes 3 – 4 weeks to heal. Do not eat or drink anything too hot or too cold as it may damage the gum tissue.

How should I maintain my dental implants?

You must be committed to maintaining a high standard of oral hygiene if you want your implants to look good and last longer. Make sure to brush your teeth at least 2 times a day (in the morning and before you sleep) and floss daily as flossing is a great way to remove particles stuck between your teeth that your toothbrush can’t reach. Regular visits to the dentist are recommended as well.
